Order:

Outpatient Allied Health Referral for assessment and treatment within role and scope of practice.

Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers comprise the interprofessional allied

health team in the Pain Management Program. While Allied Health Care Professionals (HCPs) do not require an

order to complete an assessment with a patient, the Public Hospital's Act requires Allied HCPs to obtain an order

prior to commencing treatment. The purpose of this medical directive is to ensure that the order for treatment of a

patient by Allied HCPs:

1) complies with college/association/legislative standards;

2) facilitates timely patient care; and

3) promotes interprofessional care.
