The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Rheumatology works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) to provide optimal care for outpatients in the Rheumatology Clinic. In addition to providing clinical expertise and advanced assessment skills, the CNS promotes and supports evidence-based practice, research and education.

The CNS in Rheumatology will work under multiple medical directives (as outlined in Appendix 1) in order to provide patients in Rheumatology timely access to laboratory tests, diagnostic tests and/or treatments that are required, based on a comprehensive history and physical examination performed by the CNS and consultation with the most responsible physician.

•Medication Initiation

•Laboratory Tests (blood, urine, fluid)

•Plain Xray Films
