Order: 

The cardiac sonographer will perform contrast echocardiography whenever indicated (suboptimal images exist for the quantification of chamber volumes and ejection fraction and the assessment of regional wall motion).

To complete this type of echocardiography, the sonographer will establish intravenous access and administer contrast enhancing imaging agents. The sonographer will choose the type of agent (saline or micron-sized gas bubble contrast) based on the indications listed in section below.
